Moules-frites and fish soup at Bølgen & Moi

Updated: Jun 26

We decided to have lunch at Bølgen & Moi in Stavanger on a Saturday and luckily, we had booked a table! As the weather was great it was actually fully booked for the outside service. This must be the city's best view as you sit on the waterfront right next to the Oil Museum. It is always a bit windy in Stavanger but they have installed some glass walls to prevent it from getting too cold.

We got ordered and the food arrived very quickly, and it suited us perfectly this day. Nikki wanted Moules-frites and she got a bowl of steamed mussels. The mussels seemed huge and juicy – maybe they are in season. The juice at the bottom of the bowl of mussels was also very good and had lots of flavors from the mussels. The fries that were served together with the mussels were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside and were completely fresh. This was the best fries that I have had in a long time Bølgen and Moi!

I wanted the fish soup and that came served in a similar bowl and the soup was also very tasty. It was creamy and rich and packed with flavors – and it contained a chunk of white fish as well as mussels and shrimp. There was also some good bread and aioli served with this dish and I loved the fresh bread. So all in all - this was very good! Lunch outside in the sun in great weather, beautiful views and very good food! Well done Bølgen & Moi - we have to stop by to taste the evening menu soon!
