Lunch at ilo Cafe & Restaurant

If you have been following us for a while, you might remember that we stopped by ilo Cafe & Restaurant last year and we enjoyed a dinner that included comfort food and a great atmosphere! If you can't remember, check out this summary from our visit in October 2024. Recently, I met up with my niece Frøya to enjoy a lunch at ilo and I’m pleased to see that the outdoor area around K8 is finally getting completed. They have even set up a few tables outside to enjoy a coffee or a sandwich. But to get access to the full menu, you must move inside and there you will find a variation of warm and cold dishes.
While we were looking at the menu, we also gazed at the beautiful interior of ilo bathing in the sunlight coming in through huge windows. I decided to order the ilos Cæsarsalat and Frøya ordered the Grilled 4 cheese toast. The food was served after 15-20 minutes and Frøya was happy with her sandwich even though I thought there was a lot of bread in this dish. My Caesar salad was a bit of a surprise as they had really made it into their own version. Usually, I’m a bit skeptical when restaurants deviate too much from a specific recipe and dish, but this time I did not mind as it was very good! The lettuce had good dressing on the leaves, there was crispy bacon, and the chicken pieces seemed to be freshly fried up as they were a bit crispy, still warm and juice. To top it all, they had added a generous portion of cheese espuma – a fancy word for saying that the cream was placed on there with a spray can that made it fluffy and delicious. As you can see from the photos, this was beautifully presented.
I’m happy to see that ilo café & restaurant also impress at lunch time. The menu includes vegetarian options, warm and cold dishes and there are seafood options on the menu. It is also good to see that they work with local producers and e.g. sourdough breads are supplied by local Molinå bakery . Thanks for a good lunch – I hope that more people stop by and take time for a tasty lunch!
