Recently, FRÆND Stavanger moved into Sølvberget, now located on the top floor. What makes FRÆND special is that, besides running the café, they’re also a space for integration, language practice, and inclusion — a social hub with a purpose.
I visited on a beautiful autumn day, and luckily, the rooftop terrace was open, offering a lovely view of the city. There aren’t many spots in Stavanger where you can enjoy a coffee with that kind of view! Inside, there are plenty of tables, and the menu includes wraps, sandwiches, salads, and soups, along with some sweet treats like donuts, cakes, and cinnamon buns. I went for a cinnamon bun with my coffee — perfectly fine, though I’m not sure who supplies them (and neither were the staff). Hopefully, they come from a local bakery, but it would be nice if the team could share a bit more about that.
I really hope this becomes a popular spot. It’s perfect for grabbing a coffee while the kids explore the library, enjoying lunch outdoors when the weather allows, or just taking a quick break during the day. And best of all — every visit supports a great social cause, since FRÆND is a social enterprise.
Pros:
- Beautiful rooftop terrace with city views
- Social initiatives and community focus
Cons:
- A limited menu
