Fugazzetta at Molinå Bakery

Molinå Bakery opened back in 2022 and the concept is bakery meets café. The focus is on milling their own flour and making sourdough-based products. Molinå is located a short walk from Pedersgata and this small café offers seating inside and outside. As this is a place that usually closes at about 4 pm, most people stop by to grab lunch, to buy something to bring back home or to just grab a coffee. The 4 PM closing time is a bit of a letdown for me as it makes it tricky for me to make it before they close on a Friday afternoon – this is when I usually stop by to buy one of their lovely focaccia breads. They also make bread for some of the other restaurants in Stavanger and I love to see this kind of interaction.

I recently stopped by for lunch and I was delighted to see that they had Fugazzetta on the menu. This is an Argentine pizza type where the topping is based on cheese and onion. Molinå’s take on this is to use their inhouse made focaccia bread and top this with onions, mozzarella, Comté cheese and house-made tomato jam – and it is absolutely delicious. They also offer bagels, sandwiches, salads but check with their Instagram account to see if they have any specials.

Their sourdough breads are also awesome and if you want to learn more about this, they can even offer bread classes! They also sell some sweet buns (cinnamon bun, plain, raisin etc). I tried their wild berries bun, and this was very good as it was freshly made and had a good taste of berries but also cardamom.

If you want a sandwich lunch, a bun and a coffee – and buy a good bread to bring back home, Molinå should be on your list of places to try.
