We’ve truly indulged in some fantastic restaurant experiences in Stavanger over the past year – everything from no-frills burger joints to refined fine dining. Here are some of the dishes that really stuck with us in 2025. The list is in no particular order; it’s simply a collection of plates we keep reminiscing about.

Langoustine at Hermetikken Pretty much everything coming out of the kitchen at Hermetikken is a joy, but the langoustine served in an intense, deeply flavored bisque was something special. Beautifully plated and absolutely packed with flavour.

Bhatti Murgh at Mogul India The tasting menu at Mogul India is consistently impressive, and this time it was the Bhatti Murgh that stole the show. Tandoori chicken paired with a pumpkin korma – rich, aromatic and incredibly moreish.

Lobster roll at A. Idsøe Grill & Berkel Idsøe isn’t just about meat. This lobster roll was pure indulgence, and one of the best things about it is that you can simply drop in, grab a seat at the bar, enjoy a glass of wine and treat yourself to a snack like this.

Morning bun at Sirkus Renaa The morning bun went through a bit of a dark period and was, quite literally, only a shadow of its former self. Then it suddenly came back to life – and that comeback has been celebrated more than once. Perfectly crisp on the outside, beautifully chewy in the middle. Hats off to Nikolai Meling and Torill Renaa for the rescue mission.

Squid at RE-NAA Three Michelin stars say a lot about the level here. Squid paired with elements like lemon and black garlic delivers a refined, unforgettable flavour experience.

Brioche bread at Bellies Fresh bread is always a pleasure, but when a warm, freshly baked brioche arrives at the table at Bellies, I’m officially in heaven.

Carbonara supplì by Gabriele Bonci at Citra A Roman take on arancini, filled with a rich carbonara stuffing. Crispy on the outside, creamy and indulgent on the inside – pure comfort food with flair.

Pizza fritta at Monella The fact that you can now sit down and enjoy an authentic pizza fritta in Stavanger (yes, on Forus) still feels a bit surreal. As far as we know, this is the only place in town serving it.

Tapas at Delicatessen I’ll admit it – I was sceptical when Delicatessen first opened. But it genuinely impressed me. There’s an abundance of excellent tapas here, perfect for sharing and tasting your way through the menu.

Other memorable bites from the year include snails at Kjeringholmen Brasserie, the Caesar salad at Ilo Café & Restaurant, Calabrese bruschetta at Sotto Stavanger, and ramen at Kansui.

What were your favourite food moments from the past year?
