We stop by the bakery Kanelsnurren quite often as they have quite a range of products that we enjoy. Kanelsnurren started out like a small bakery at the waterfront in Stavanger and before we blinked, they started popping up in various locations in Stavanger. After a few years they even started popping up in other cities in Norway including Oslo and Bergen.

I usually go to the original store – located in Verksgata 24. This got a makeover a couple of years back and has quite a lot of tables inside – and a few seats outside as well. The products they offer include bread, great baguettes, focaccia bread, croissants etc. For a while, I was not that impressed by the croissants but when I tasted them recently, it seems like they have made some adjustments, and it is not bad at all. Their sandwiches are ready made but are good and my personal favourites are BLT and the estragon fried vegetables that also happen to be vegan.

They have lots of good, sweet stuff and I can recommend the Dansk Kanelsnegl (a sort of cinnamon swirl), their lovely lemon tart, brownies with caramel etc.

The branches also include products to bring back home – coffee beans, cookies, local juice, excellent chocolates from Fjåk sjokolade etc. Talking about chocolates, I would also like to see them offer some good local chocolates from e.g. Fjorden sjokolade

If you need a sandwich for lunch, a quick cup of coffee or some sweet pastry, check out a Kanelsnurren branch near you. They even have a drive-thru at Forus so you don’t even have to leave your car!

Pros:

- many branches around town

- good selection of bread, sandwiches, buns

- some are open on Sundays

Cons: - n/a
